Babymetal, the Japanese metal sensation, has been on a collaboration spree in 2025, and their sights are now set on an iconic collaboration with Amy Lee, the legendary frontwoman of Evanescence.
In an exclusive interview with Metal Hammer, Su-metal, one of Babymetal's co-founding vocalists, expressed her admiration for Amy Lee, saying, "Amy Lee is an artist I've looked up to for years. I'd love to collaborate with her someday."
But here's where it gets interesting: Babymetal has already crossed paths with some heavy hitters in the metal world, including Five Finger Death Punch and Bloodywood. In 2025, they teamed up with these artists for a series of exciting collaborations.
Su-metal reminisced about their collaboration with Five Finger Death Punch, saying, "We were invited to be part of their 20th-anniversary project, where guest artists performed on past songs. It was a thrill to be remembered from our 2015 festival performance together."
She added, "I put my own spin on The End with Japanese lyrics inspired by the original. Finding the right voice for such a powerful track was a challenge I relished."
Su-metal's favorite part of the song? "The flow from 'Negai o kakete' after the chorus into the break. My voice blending with Ivan's growl gave me goosebumps, and I hope listeners feel the same."
Babymetal's latest album, Metal Forth, showcases their collaborative spirit with artists like Poppy, Electric Callboy, and Spiritbox. Meanwhile, Amy Lee has also been busy, recently joining forces with Poppy and Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante on the track End Of You, one of the biggest metal crossovers of the year.
However, catching up with Amy Lee might be a challenge, as Evanescence has announced a massive world tour for 2026, with stops in North America, the UK, and Europe. They'll also be performing a mega show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado.
And if that's not enough, Evanescence is rumored to be releasing a new album next year, with Amy Lee hinting at more music in the works.
