Blacksmithing is one of the core armor crafting professions, allowing you tocraft armor that will help you level and potentially last for multiple phases. In this guide, we focus on the important items that this profession offers.
In Season of Discovery Blacksmithing also gained new crafts, including somebind on pickup gear that is best in slot for the phases it is introduced in.
1.
Blacksmithing in Season of Discovery
Blacksmithing received many new crafts in Season of Discovery, includingbest in slot bind on pickup gear for the early Phases, such as Phase 1's Shifting Silver Breastplate or the new Tempered Interference-Negating Helmet.
Many blacksmithing caster items for Paladins with pure stats in the level 30to 40 range have been changed to have increased damage and healing with spellsinstead of Spirit, making them much more useful!
Also, starting in later Phase 4, you will be able to switch Blacksmithing specializationwhenever you want for Gold.
2.
Introduction
Tailoring, Leatherworking, and Blacksmithingare the core armor-crafting professions in WoW Classic. Blacksmithing allows youto craft Mail and eventually Plate armor, which specifically is gear for Warriorsand Paladins. Alternatively, you can choose to specialize in crafting weapons asa Weaponsmith, and will be able to make useful weapons for almost every class.
Blacksmithing uses ores and metals to craft. It can be quite expensive tolevel and maintain, so pairing it with Mining can be quite beneficial, especially early on when materials will be more expensive. Mining will allowyou to farm your own materials without needing to buy them on the AuctionHouse.
3.
Leveling
Leveling any profession comes down to using the profession, usually to craftitems. Blacksmithing is no different. You will want to craft items that arehard, which means they will be color coded as orange in your Blacksmithingmenu. If you cannot craft something orange, yellow is an acceptablealternative. Green recipes will very rarely level you up, while gray recipeswill never level you. There is not strictly one way to leveling Blacksmithing, and the best choices for what items to make to level can vary depending on whatmaterials you have available.
If you want a more concrete guide on what to level to get from 1-300, checkout this Blacksmithing leveling guideover at wow-professions.com.

Once you are 200in Blacksmithing, you can pick up the quest for whichever specialization youwant to choose from a Blacksmithing trainer.

- Stronghold Gauntlets — has alright stats, but also makes youimmune to disarm effects. These can be useful in PvP.
