Bold statement: The 2025 Formula 2 season closes with a dramatic, title-defining moment in Abu Dhabi, where Joshua Duerksen seals the final win and a dramatic championship outcome unfolds. But here's where it gets controversial... a race that delivered more than just a podium or a checkered flag.
In the Yas Marina Feature Race, Joshua Duerksen for AIX Racing grinds his way through the field to take victory, securing back-to-back wins in Abu Dhabi for the Paraguayan driver. He started eighth on the grid and, much like 2024, climbed through the pack to reach the top step of the podium.
Invicta Racing’s Roman Stanek completed the podium with a P2, contributing to the British outfit’s defense of the FIA Formula 2 Teams’ Championship. Invicta becomes only the second team to defend the title since PREMA Racing did so in 2020 and 2021, a rare and notable achievement in the series.
Gabriele Minì also finished on the podium for the Italian squad after a five-second pit-lane speeding penalty reclassified Dino Beganovic from second to fourth. Beganovic had initially placed second on track, but the time penalty dropped him to fourth, and Minì moved up to P3, edging out Beganovic by 0.2 seconds.
MP Motorsport’s Oliver Goethe achieved fifth place, showcasing strong late-season form, ahead of Rafael Villagomez for Van Amersfoort Racing. Kush Maini and Ritomo Miyata finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
Arvid Lindblad, heading toward Formula 1, battled back to ninth after a Safety Car disrupted his alternative strategy—highlighting how strategic timing can tilt the race even for high-potential singular performances.
Jak Crawford received a 10-second stop/go penalty, yet still secured the final point of the season, finishing P10 and claiming the runner-up position in the Drivers’ Championship.
