From the moment Vic declared, “I can’t see her, but I see her,” in the pods, there was an undeniable spark with Christine. Vic described the experience as a “beautifully orchestrated opportunity to show up authentically, meet someone, and tap into my vulnerable side.” He hoped their families would merge seamlessly once the experiment's blindness was lifted, but as he wisely put it, “we'll get to that bridge when we get to that bridge.”
Their connection only deepened after the big reveal, with Christine exclaiming, “You’re the best thing I’ve ever seen.” Following this emotional reunion, the newly engaged couples typically embark on a romantic getaway. However, instead of joining the rest of the pod squad in Cabo, Mexico, Vic and Christine headed to a more secluded, stateside resort in Malibu, California. And no, it wasn't due to any passport hiccups!

Creator Chris Coelen explained that this season, they felt exceptionally good about the couples, leading them to follow seven engaged pairs – a first in Love Is Blind history! To accommodate this larger group, they had to make a unique offer to one couple: a private getaway to Malibu. “In order to make this work, we had to offer one couple the chance to go to Malibu on their own getaway,” Coelen revealed. While the romantic getaways are designed to test if emotional connections can translate into physical intimacy and to address any lingering feelings for other pod dates, Vic and Christine had fewer intersecting relationships with the other remaining couples. This made them the ideal candidates for the Malibu retreat, an offer they enthusiastically accepted.
How did Vic and Christine feel about this exclusive invitation?
The morning after their first face-to-face meeting, Vic and Christine learned about their unconventional continuation of the experiment. Christine recalled being told, “If you guys both choose to go, then this will happen.” A wave of self-doubt washed over her: What if Vic didn’t want to go? What if California wasn’t the right move? However, her worries were quickly dispelled when Vic called, brimming with excitement. “Hey, babe, so we’re going to Malibu?” he asked, to which Christine happily replied, “Yeah, we’re going to Malibu.”
And just like that, with bags packed, they were en route to three days on the California coast, free from external distractions. “We talked the whole drive there,” Vic shared. “It didn’t take too long to connect the voice to the person or feel comfortable.” Upon arrival, they embraced the tranquility of their solo retreat. After sharing the news with their mothers via FaceTime, Christine mentioned they chose to “stay in their happy little bubble.” It was remarkably similar to the Mexico experience, where phones are returned later; they found themselves continuing the experiment without distractions, creating a “beautiful, pivotal moment” in their relationship.
Reflecting on the experience, Vic described it as the perfect next step. “One of the beautiful things about it was the quality time. I was in paradise with my lady,” he said. They delved into deep conversations, revisited their pod discussions, and explored future travel plans. For Vic, the trip was nothing short of tranquil.
Knowing a reunion with the other couples awaited them back home in Ohio, Vic stated that the Malibu getaway didn't alter their relationship's trajectory. He believed that even if they had been with the other couples, their quality time together would have remained the same because “Whenever we were together, we were good.”
Christine echoed this sentiment, adding, “There wasn’t a pro and con. I believed he was my person regardless.” She acknowledged that while they would have maintained the same connection and intimacy at home, she was incredibly grateful for the trip. It offered a much-needed respite from the intensity of the experiment, allowing them to disconnect from the world and nurture their bond. It was a truly beautiful few days, making it difficult to leave.
