With its headquarters in Beijing, Zhipu AI has successfully attracted a diverse user community, boasting approximately 100,000 monthly API users and an impressive 3 million free chatbot users worldwide. "Our aim is to expand across all markets as our international growth is outpacing our domestic growth," Li emphasized.
Introduced in late September, GLM-4.6 was marketed as the most powerful open model for coding, and it didn't take long for it to be integrated into popular AI coding tools like Anthropic-backed Claude Code. Li described the model as a "game-changer" for Zhipu's global business strategy.
Another coding tool, Kilo Code, reported that GLM-4.6 experienced the platform's fastest adoption rate ever. This rapid growth is attributed to the model's cost-effectiveness compared to its US counterparts. In just 12 days, token usage for GLM-4.6 increased by an astonishing 94 times, solidifying its position as a highly efficient and affordable option.
